Lunin Resolves the Debate: Happy at Real Madrid and Not Looking to Leave
Ukrainian Andriy Lunin, goalkeeper for Real Madrid, has confirmed his desire to remain at the royal club, denying any wish to leave, despite recent doubts about his future due to a lack of participation.
Lunin stated to the Spanish program "El Chiringuito" upon returning to team training on Monday morning, saying: "I am always happy at Real Madrid, and of course I want to stay," thus closing the door on rumors of his departure this summer.
Reports had indicated that Lunin received offers from several clubs, as he desired more playing time, especially with the difficulty of competing with Belgian Thibaut Courtois for the starting position. However, Real Madrid remains hesitant to sell him, given the need for a reliable backup for their main goalkeeper.
It is worth noting that Lunin, who is 26 years old, joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2018 from Zorya Luhansk in Ukraine and has been loaned to several Spanish clubs before settling with the first team since 2020. He renewed his contract last September to last until 2028 and participated in 14 matches last season, during which he conceded 19 goals.
