Spanish newspaper 'Sport' reported that William Saliba, Arsenal defender and French national team player, is unlikely to join Real Madrid during the current summer transfer window, as his club is keen on retaining his services and wishes to renew his contract.

The newspaper confirmed that Arsenal's management is working on extending Saliba's contract, which expires in the summer of 2027, and feels optimistic about reaching a final agreement in the near future, amidst a mutual desire from both the player and the club to continue together.

Saliba believes that staying at Arsenal is currently the best option, and he does not plan to leave before the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, a tournament that Real Madrid also relies on as part of its new project under coach Xabi Alonso.

'Sport' indicated that Real Madrid had previously attempted to sign Saliba in earlier periods, but Arsenal's high financial demands, which reached nearly 80 million euros, prevented the deal from being completed, while the management of the royal club continues to monitor his situation in anticipation of any future developments.
