Brentford Rejects Newcastle's Offer for Wissa and Insists on Keeping Him
Reports revealed today, Friday, new developments regarding the future of Congolese international Yoane Wissa, the striker for Brentford, who is among the targets of Newcastle United during the ongoing summer transfer window.
According to Sky Sports, Newcastle made an official offer of £25 million to sign Wissa, but Brentford's management rejected the offer and insists on keeping the player this summer, especially after the departure of his teammate Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United for £71 million.
Wissa is 28 years old and is of interest to several clubs in the Premier League, most notably Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Brentford's management believes that the team is going through a sensitive phase after coach Thomas Frank's departure to manage Tottenham, in addition to the exit of both Mbeumo and captain Christian Norgaard, which threatens the team's stability for the upcoming season.
Although there has been no official announcement regarding the asking price for Wissa, reports have indicated that Brentford values the player at around £40 million, an amount that Newcastle's management considers high, especially since the player would not be in the starting lineup but rather a substitute for striker Isak, who has requested to leave the team.
Amid the possibility of Isak's departure, Newcastle is looking to sign Slovenian striker Benjamin Šeško, a star from Leipzig, in a deal that could cost the club nearly £69 million, according to Sky Sports, amid competition from several major European clubs.
