Al-Hilal Insists on Not Participating in the Saudi Super Cup in Hong Kong Despite Pressure
The management of Al-Hilal Club remains steadfast in its refusal to participate in the Saudi Super Cup, scheduled to be held in Hong Kong next month, despite attempts by the Football Association to persuade the club to change its decision.
Despite the efforts made by the Saudi Federation to convince Al-Hilal to withdraw its withdrawal, sources from "Al-Riyadiyah" confirm that the club has shown no intention of retracting its stance so far and insists on its position definitively.
Al-Hilal had previously announced its withdrawal from the tournament due to time constraints, especially after its intensive participation in the 2025 Club World Cup, which has caused significant pressure on the team's schedule before the start of the local season.
The Saudi Super Cup is expected to be held in Hong Kong from August 19 to 23, with the participation of Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Qadisiyah, while an alternative invitation to Al-Ahli is being considered to compensate for Al-Hilal's absence.
Al-Hilal's final stance represents an organizational blow to the anticipated tournament outside the Kingdom, amidst expectations of wide public participation in the first edition held on neutral Asian ground.
