Vázquez: I was honored to play for the greatest club in the world
Spanish star Lucas Vázquez has bid farewell to Real Madrid fans, preparing for his departure from the team this summer as his contract comes to an end, while the club is set to hold an official farewell ceremony for him tomorrow, Thursday.
Vázquez said in his farewell message: "Dear Madridistas, nearly two decades have passed since I arrived at Valdebebas at the age of sixteen, filled with dreams and excitement to wear this shirt. Every step in my career has been a gift, and over time, Madrid has become my home."
He added: "We have lived unforgettable nights together, celebrated 23 titles, and created memories that will stay with me forever. I thank the president, the board, the coaching staff, the coaches, my teammates, and above all, the fans. You have always pushed me to give more."
He continued: "Today, after more than 400 matches, it is time to say goodbye to the club of my life. But I leave knowing that I gave my all. I have always been aware of the responsibility and honor that comes with wearing this shirt."
He added: "I enjoyed every match, every training session, and every trip, and if there is one thing this journey has taught me, it is that no one should ever tell you that you cannot achieve something."
He concluded: "I may leave Real Madrid, but Real Madrid will never leave me. Wherever I go, I will proudly say that I was honored to play for the greatest club in the world. Thank you for being part of the most beautiful journey of my life. Hala Madrid and nothing else."
