Reasons for Al-Ahli's Absence from the Summer Transfer Market

Friday 11-07-2025
Media personality Mishaal Al-Otaibi sparked a new controversy regarding Al-Ahli Saudi's silence in the summer transfer market, confirming that the club has made an unusual decision that explains the absence of signings so far.

Al-Otaibi revealed that Al-Ahli's management refused to open any door for negotiations with new foreign players, except for the global star Lionel Messi, before definitively determining the fate of the foreign players who exceed the team's needs.

Al-Otaibi believes that this decision puts Al-Ahli in a competitive predicament, criticizing their unique approach by saying: "We find this excuse only from Al-Ahli's management, while other clubs sign first and then settle their situations."

Currently, the club has 12 foreign players on its roster, led by Algerian Riyad Mahrez, Ivorian Franck Kessie, and English Ivan Toney, along with several Brazilian stars such as Firmino, Roger Ibanez, and Galeno.

This hesitation in making decisions has raised questions among fans about the team's future, especially since early signings provide an advantage during the preparation period before the new season starts.
