Ali Mohsen Reveals His Reasons for Leaving Al-Zawraa
Thursday 10-07-2025
In his first official statements after announcing his departure from Al-Zawraa Club, midfielder Ali Mohsen spoke candidly about the reasons for leaving the swans and responded to the rumors surrounding his transfer to Al-Karama, confirming that his departure was not motivated by money but rather a personal conviction that it was time to turn a new page in his career.

Ali Mohsen, who represented Al-Zawraa for two seasons after coming from Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, confirmed that the decision to leave was made of his own volition. He said:

“I decided that this season would be my last with Al-Zawraa; there was no direct reason, but I felt that the time was right to end this phase quietly.”

In response to those who said that his transfer to Al-Karama was financially motivated, Mohsen clarified emphatically:

“This statement is not accurate; my contract with Al-Karama is the same value as my contract with Al-Zawraa. Money was never my motivation, but rather a desire to take on a new challenge. I do not want to reach a stage where I become a burden on the team or face backlash from the fans.”

Despite the good relationship he has with Al-Zawraa fans, Ali Mohsen did not hide his feelings of sadness from some situations, saying:

“Yes, I was hurt at times by the fans, but I appreciate their love for the club and their passion for it, and I understand their reactions even if they were harsh at times.”

In analyzing the reasons for losing the lead, he confirmed that small details were crucial:

“We lost the lead by simple fractions; some matches were within our reach, but luck eluded us at important moments.”

Mohsen spoke about the impact of the absence of goalkeeper and captain Jalal Hassan, saying:

“Jalal has a significant presence both on and off the field; his voice, presence, and advice provide players with positive energy. Even in training, he was like a true leader.”

In response to a moment described as mysterious when he placed his hand on his head after Hassan Abdul Karim's goal against Al-Jawiya, he clarified:

“I played with Al-Jawiya for three years and won three championships with them. When Hassan scored the goal, my feelings were mixed; joy for my friend and sadness for my former team. The gesture was very spontaneous.”

Regarding his joining Al-Karama, Ali Mohsen emphasized that the new team has a clear vision and great ambitions, saying:

“I signed with Al-Karama not for the money, but for a different project. They have great ambitions and want to compete for the league title and the Iraq Cup. This is what I felt during my conversation with the management.
