Dutch star Steven Bergwijn of Al-Ittihad made shocking statements that sparked widespread controversy, as he clearly downplayed the importance of the Club World Cup currently taking place in the United States.

In a press interview, Bergwijn explained that he has never watched the tournament, confirming his indifference towards it, and said: "I haven't followed it at all, and I have no desire to watch it, I haven't seen even a minute of it."

When asked about his opinion on the possibility of representing Al-Ittihad in the tournament in the future, he answered nonchalantly: "If I have to participate, that's fine, but I don't consider it an achievement or something worth experiencing."

In a different context, Bergwijn revealed the reason for his presence in the Dutch city of Almere, confirming that it is a regular destination for him in his training schedule, and he has been visiting it continuously for many years.

The player said: "I always visit this place to improve my fitness, and I have a specific training program here that helps me prepare for the new season perfectly."

Bergwijn also indicated that he undergoes regular medical check-ups in Almere, ensuring his physical health and readiness for the next phase of his football career with Al-Ittihad.
