The German club Bayern Munich officially announced today, Sunday, the nature of the injury suffered by German star Jamal Musiala, which occurred yesterday against Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup.

The club stated: "Jamal Musiala sustained a serious injury during the quarter-final match of the Club World Cup between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in the United States, and he had to be substituted at halftime."

It added: "Medical examinations conducted by the doctors of the German champions revealed that Musiala is suffering from a fracture in the fibula due to an ankle dislocation. The 22-year-old player traveled from Orlando to Munich on Sunday morning and will undergo surgery soon."

Max Eberl, the sporting director of Bayern Munich, said: "This serious injury and long absence is a real shock for Jamal and all of us. This greatly affects Bayern Munich. Everyone knows how important Jamal is to our game and his pivotal role in our team. Moreover, the human impact on him is extremely bitter; we all feel it: Jamal has just recovered from an injury and will now be out for a long time again. We will provide him with everything he needs. According to several media reports, Musiala's absence will extend for a period of 4-6 months.
