Officially.. Dortmund announces Moukoko's departure to Copenhagen
Borussia Dortmund today announced the transfer of its young striker Youssoufa Moukoko to FC Copenhagen on a permanent basis, after the player passed the routine medical examination this morning at his new club's headquarters.
This marks the end of a long chapter in the career of 20-year-old Moukoko with Dortmund, where he joined its academy from St. Pauli at the age of eleven. He stood out significantly in the youth teams, scoring 141 goals in 88 matches with the under-17 and under-19 teams, and won the German U17 league title in 2018.
In November 2020, Moukoko made Bundesliga history as the youngest player to participate in an official match (16 years and one day), and later became the youngest goalscorer in the competition's history, also making his name in the UEFA Champions League as a youth player in December of the same year.
After participating in 99 matches with Dortmund's first team and scoring 18 goals, in addition to winning the DFB-Pokal in 2021, he was loaned to French club Nice in August 2024, but he could not achieve the desired breakthrough, scoring two goals in 22 matches.
The player said: "My heart is divided, saying goodbye to Dortmund is not easy, this club will always be a part of me. But after a difficult year in France, it is time for a new beginning. Copenhagen gives me the opportunity to start again, and I will do my best. Thank you to the Dortmund family, and I will always remain a supporter, and I hope we meet again in the Champions League."
