Bellingham: My Patience is Running Out, and It's Hard to Define My Preferred Position
Monday 23-06-2025
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham spoke to the press after the 3-1 victory over Pachuca in the third round of the group stage of the FIFA Club World Cup.

The player said: "It was a good win for the team; we played very well. Our performance improved a lot compared to the previous match. We are very happy, but we are now looking to achieve more."

He added: "In fact, the match became difficult after Asensio's red card. He is a young defender, so it's natural that nothing happens. It's important to change the style of play when the coach instructs it, and we had to take on that responsibility. We had to communicate with each other to make the team's task easier. Then we had to weather the storm a bit. They had several shots on goal, and Courtois was great. We won. We didn't have a perfect match, but hey, we can keep working. The coach's ideas are wonderful, and we need to continue working in the direction he wants."

He continued: "I talk to Xabi Alonso a lot every day. He is an excellent coach. He has great ideas about how to play, both defensively and offensively. He is a very important person for us and for this new era. I am very happy with him."

Regarding the shoulder issues he is experiencing: "Things are going well. I've reached a stage where the pain is no longer severe. I got tired of playing with a brace; it is exhausting. Most importantly, the weather is very hot; I lose weight from sweating a lot. As I mentioned, I have a plan for surgery after the tournament, after the final. I have waited a long time, and my patience is running out. The physiotherapists and doctors have been amazing; they help me a lot in every match. I want to feel free now regarding my shoulder."

About his preferred position: "It's very difficult to define that. I prefer to participate in the match by touching the ball as much as possible, whether I am forward or backward. When I am forward, I can touch the ball faster, and if I am forward, the ball will reach me too. In the last few matches of last season, I participated a lot in the game by playing as a forward. I strive to give my best wherever I am."
