Morata: I Won't Be with the National Team in September, I Almost Cried

Spanish national team striker Álvaro Morata appeared in press statements following the loss in the UEFA Nations League final on penalties, after a 2-2 draw in regular and extra time.

Morata said: "I feel bad for my teammates, but this is life. I thank the coach for his words."

Regarding the penalty saved by the Portuguese goalkeeper: "I didn't take it well, I could have done better, but I can no longer change anything now. I leave feeling upset."

He added: "I almost cried, even though I didn't. My children were in the stands, and in this life, we have to learn."

On international retirement: "Right now, I'm only thinking about what happened today, but it's likely that I won't be with the national team in September."

He concluded: "It was a high-level match from Lamine and the team, Yamal will bring a lot of happiness to Spain."
