Saudi Clubs Compete to Sign Jadon Sancho
Reports from English media have revealed that several major Saudi clubs are competing to sign English winger Jadon Sancho during the summer transfer window, following Chelsea's failure to activate the final purchase clause from Manchester United.
According to the British newspaper "Mirror", the 25-year-old Sancho is attracting interest from Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Nassr, amid the lack of an agreement with Chelsea regarding his stay.
Sancho spent last season on loan at Chelsea, where he had varying performances, but he shone in the UEFA Europa League final by scoring a goal in the victory over Real Betis.
Despite coach Enzo Maresca's desire for him to stay, the deal hit a snag due to the player's financial demands, which included a weekly salary of £300,000.
Chelsea also incurred a £5 million fine to Manchester United for failing to activate the agreed purchase clause of £25 million.
For its part, United's management decided not to cover any part of the player's salary, preferring to retain the fine and look for a suitable offer to sell him, noting that his contract runs until the summer of 2026.
