The newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" confirmed the departure of Croatian star Luka Modric from Real Madrid as his contract ends on June 30, 2025, amid the absence of any official offer from the club to renew the contract of the veteran midfielder who is 39 years old.

Despite Modric's readiness to renew his contract for an additional season and Xabi Alonso's approval for his continuation, Real Madrid's management has decided not to renew, making his anticipated farewell against Real Sociedad next Saturday at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

At the same time, the newspaper clarified that Modric is not considering retirement and wishes to participate with the Croatian national team in the 2026 World Cup, despite his expected departure from the royal club.

It is worth mentioning that Modric is one of the most prominent stars of Real Madrid over the past decade, having achieved numerous domestic and continental titles with the team, and his name will remain prominent in the club's history.
