Ancelotti: It's Time for Change, and This is My Opinion on Alonso
Tuesday 13-05-2025
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti appeared in a press conference to talk about tomorrow's match against Mallorca in the 36th round of La Liga at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

The coach said: "I expect a match like the last few matches, difficult and competitive. We have some important absences, but we are capable of fielding a competitive team. We will do our best and aim to win the three remaining matches. We will not give the league title to the competing team. We want to finish a difficult season strongly."

He added: "Starting from the 26th, I will be the coach of Brazil. I am still the coach of Real Madrid, and I want to finish this final stage of this wonderful adventure here in the best way possible. You will be very interested in what I will do, but I have to think about the remaining time I have. In these few remaining days at Real Madrid, I am completely focused on the final stage of this wonderful adventure."

Regarding his departure from Real Madrid, he continued: "Real Madrid will issue the statement whenever they wish. No problem at all. They will issue it at the time they see fit. Just as the Brazilian Football Confederation issued it yesterday, it's time for a change. Nothing more. I am handling it completely normally. It was a mutual decision to end here."

He added: "In football, as in life, there are adventures that start and end. I always knew it would end someday. It has been a wonderful period. We had a great time, but it must come to an end. If someone had told me I would win 11 titles in four years, I would have signed that with my blood. This season has not been good for several reasons. But it was an unforgettable period."

He continued: "What is your advice for Xabi Alonso? I love him very much. I have no advice because he has all the potential to become a great coach in the future."

He stated: "I want to have a great time in the last 15 days. I have gotten the most out of myself. Titles speak for themselves. Are you happy to coach the Brazilian national team? I am very happy. I have to explain in the press conference things I don't want to explain because I am the coach of Real Madrid until May 25. Because I respect this shirt very much. I want to respect it until the last day. I wanted to win the league and the Champions League, but I am very happy."

He added: "I never felt that Real Madrid did not want me; everyone here loves me, and it will remain so even after my departure to Brazil. They have always shown me affection. I will not be able to be the coach of Real Madrid for my whole life. This ends for many reasons. Perhaps the club needs renewal. I don't make it a big deal. A thousand thanks to this club. We will continue; I will remain a Madridista for life. It’s a period that is about to end. Amazing. I never expected to be able to coach Real Madrid for six years, but that’s what happened."

Regarding what is happening with Rodrygo: "Rodrygo is suffering from a fever that has not allowed him to perform at his best. Today during training, he was experiencing discomfort in his leg. I don't know which leg. And he wasn't feeling well; he hasn't recovered well from the fever. After that, there was a lot of speculation about this matter. Everyone has a special affection for Rodrygo, especially me."

He concluded: "Were there people upset about the negotiations with Brazil while you were still the coach of Real Madrid? I respect all opinions. These are things that happen in football, like press conferences. And you have to endure them. But I am not sad.
