Ancelotti: We need to pay attention to the small details, and this is my opinion on Alonso

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti appeared in a press conference to talk about tomorrow's match against Barcelona in the 35th round of La Liga at the Montjuïc Stadium.

The coach stated, "The team is in good shape, and has trained well. We are excited and motivated, of course. It’s a very important match, and we have a lot at stake. We are also confident in our ability to win. It will be a very tough match because the recent games against Barcelona have always been very complicated."

He added, "In such matches, you have to play well. You need to defend well because they are an opponent accustomed to being in their half. They haven’t just done that against us. When you have the ball, you must exploit the opponent's weaknesses; there is no perfect team. It’s a match with a lot at stake, and to succeed in it, we need to pay attention to the small details."

He continued, "Rodrigo has returned after a fever. He has trained well all week and is available. We don’t have many options for the starting lineup. We have several players missing, but the players in the squad are fine. Both Rodrigo and Arda are important options for us."

He elaborated on his future: "I read that Xabi Alonso will leave Bayer Leverkusen. He has done a great job, and doors are open for him because he has proven to be one of the best coaches in the world."

On recovering after being eliminated from the Champions League: "This is football. Once you take a hit, football gives you a chance to respond immediately."

Regarding reaching his 350th match as coach of Real Madrid tomorrow: "It’s not complicated. Lisbon, Paris, and London. Those 350 are not complicated; I don’t remember them all. In some matches, we were good, and in others, it’s better to forget them because they weren’t played well."

He added, "Real Madrid is like Milan; there are clubs that stay in my heart throughout my time here and my relationships. When the pressure eases, affection rises; the honeymoon with Madrid will last until the last day of my life."

On the La Liga race: "It has been a good season in La Liga; consistency is essential. Winning it or getting close explains exactly what tomorrow's match will be like; both of us have a lot at stake. Barcelona has a better chance than us, but if we win, everything is wide open."

About the Champions League semifinals: "I found the match very competitive between Inter and Barcelona, but Barcelona was very close to reaching the final. Congratulations to Paris Saint-Germain and Inter, who will play a wonderful and balanced final in the Champions League, without favoring either side."

He concluded, "Over the past two years, we have achieved good results in set pieces. Tomorrow we need to be careful about offside and know how to exchange passes. I have talked with the players, and we prepared for that in training. If the players listen to me, things will go well."
