Al-Karkh defender Omar Nouri expressed his regret over the loss against Al-Shorta in the thirty-second round of the Iraqi Stars League, confirming that his team delivered a strong defensive performance, but a single mistake cost them the only goal of the match.

He said: "We entered the match with high concentration and succeeded in limiting the danger of Al-Shorta's attackers for most of the match, but a single cross led to the goal that decided the outcome."

He added: "Al-Shorta has dangerous players with great experience, yet we were a strong match for them, and we stood well especially in the second half which saw numerous attempts to come back."

He continued: "We felt that we were closer to scoring at certain moments, but it didn’t happen for us, and this is football; sometimes you play well but don’t get a result."

He went on: "Despite the loss, we leave the match with our heads held high, and we are now thinking about the upcoming matches because they are the most important, and we will strive to improve our position in the standings."

He added: "We have the ambition to finish the season respectably, and we will continue to work and fight in every match until the final whistle."
