Duhok Achieves Important Victory Over Basra Oil with a Clean Goal

Thursday 01-05-2025
Duhok Club returned from the Olympic Port Stadium with a valuable victory against its host Basra Oil with a score of 1-0, in the match that brought the two teams together this evening, as part of the 31st round of the Iraqi Stars League.

Duhok presented a balanced performance throughout the minutes of the match, taking advantage of the significant decline in the level of the home team, and succeeded in snatching the only goal of the match through the professional Bashang Abdullah in the 77th minute, after an individual effort that he finished with an accurate shot into the net.

Despite the numerical disadvantage the team suffered in the final minutes after the expulsion of player Yannick Zakri with a red card in the 90th minute, Duhok maintained its lead until the final whistle, securing all points from a match that was physically and tactically challenging.

This result comes at an important time for the Duhok team, which is seeking to regain its balance after a decline in results in recent rounds, following their crowning as champions of the Gulf Champions League, as the victory restored confidence to the players and the coaching staff led by Swedish Masoud Miral.

On the other hand, Basra Oil continued its negative results, suffering its fifth loss in the last six matches, and now faces the danger of relegation as it remains in 18th place, amid lackluster performance and clear defensive fragility, in light of the absence of fan support and weak attacking solutions.

With this result, Duhok increased its points to important totals in the middle of the table, while Basra Oil's situation became more complicated, awaiting decisive upcoming rounds.
