The Disciplinary Committee of the Iraqi Premier League has issued strict decisions against the clubs of Zakho and Newroz, following the unfortunate events that accompanied their recent match in the league, which saw fans storming the pitch and unfortunate clashes between supporters of both teams.

The decisions came after reviewing official reports and video footage that documented the events, where the involvement of some supporters from both clubs in inciting chaos on the field was established.

The penalties included banning the fans of Zakho and Newroz from attending their teams' remaining matches until the end of the season, in addition to imposing financial fines on both clubs, in a move aimed at enforcing discipline and ensuring the safety of players, referees, and everyone present on the pitch.

These measures come as a confirmation of the Iraqi Football Association's commitment to standards of integrity and sportsmanship, and its firm rejection of any practices that tarnish the image of the local competition.

The match between Newroz and Zakho witnessed significant chaos after the final whistle, when fans stormed the pitch, leading to scuffles and fights between some supporters of both teams, in a charged atmosphere that forced security teams to intervene quickly to contain the situation.

The organizing bodies hope that these penalties will be deterrent and contribute to ending manifestations of violence in Iraqi stadiums, especially with the tournament approaching its decisive stages that require the highest levels of discipline both on and off the pitch.
