Mariska: Chelsea's Season Will Remain Good Even If We Don't Qualify for the Champions League
Italian coach Enzo Mariska, head coach of Chelsea FC, confirmed that the team's season will remain good, even if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Mariska's statements came after Chelsea's victory over Fulham with a score of 2-1 in the match that took place on Sunday evening at Craven Cottage, as part of the 33rd round of the English Premier League.
Mariska said: "Neto's goal will not change Chelsea's season, I said before that we have not qualified for the Champions League in the last three years, so no matter the results of this season, it will still be good for us."
He added: "I did not celebrate with our fans because the players deserved this moment, I preferred to let them celebrate with each other, so I left the pitch early."
He continued: "Sometimes we need a bit of luck in such matches, but I was very optimistic about our ability to win against Fulham, and the players did what they had to do."
Regarding the absence of striker Christopher Nkunku, Mariska said: "Nkunku's absence from the match is merely a technical decision."
He further explained the reason for substituting some players: "I substituted Reece James because he played a full 90 minutes two days ago, while Gusto was suffering from a muscle injury, so I preferred to preserve him."
