Despite being eliminated from the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, Unai Emery, the head coach of Aston Villa, left with his head held high after his team defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 on Tuesday evening in the second leg held at Villa Park.

However, this victory was not enough to overturn the first leg result, which ended in favor of Paris Saint-Germain 3-1, resulting in an aggregate score of 5-4 in favor of the Parisian team.

Despite the elimination, Emery displayed a positive spirit and great confidence in his project with Aston Villa, affirming that the team is heading in the right direction.

Emery stated: "I am very proud of what we have achieved; reaching this level is the best step towards achieving the standard I aspire to with Aston Villa."

He added: "We competed well in the first leg, but that was not enough, and today we were better, and we were very close to turning the result around."

He continued: "We still lack the final step, and that is the only aspect I want to work on in the team's development path."

The Spanish coach highlighted the significant role played by Aston Villa's fans during the match, emphasizing: "The feeling with our fans was wonderful; the crowd was amazing, and they enjoyed the match and transmitted energy and enthusiasm to us."

He explained: "Even after falling behind by two goals, we maintained the same feeling and belief in our ability to come back, but we still have some work to do to become better."
