Nuno Mendes: We Must Be Cautious, the Match is Not Over Yet
Thursday 10-04-2025
Nuno Mendes, the defender of Paris Saint-Germain, expressed his confidence in his team's ability after a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, but emphasized the need to remain cautious in the return match at Villa Park.

Mendes stated: "The third goal gives us more confidence, a two-goal lead is good, but we must keep working. We still have another match ahead, and I believe a two-goal lead doesn't mean much. If they score first in the return match, we will face difficulties because they will be on their home ground."

He continued: "The coach always tells us that whether we score a goal or concede one, we must continue to play the same way without changing. We are strong with the ball; we must defend with the ball, and we know that spaces will open up for us. Today we succeeded in that; we had a good match, and that is a positive thing."

Mendes concluded his statements by saying: "The return match will be difficult, so we must be extremely cautious. Aston Villa is a strong team at home, so it will be essential to maintain the same fighting spirit and high focus."
