Wednesday 09-04-2025
Vincent Kompany, the head coach of Bayern Munich, expressed his regret after the 2-1 defeat against Inter Milan in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, emphasizing that his team missed several opportunities to achieve a better result in the match. Nevertheless, Kompany showed confidence in his team's ability to turn the result around in the second leg.

Kompany said: "Today we had many opportunities to score more than one goal, two, three, or maybe more. We were brave in attack, but unfortunately, we couldn't convert these chances into goals."

He continued: "The second goal we conceded at the end was painful, but we still believe in our ability to come back."

He added: "Playing away is always difficult, but today we have a feeling that we will get our chances there. The score is what it is now, but in the locker room, we trust our chances of qualifying."

Kompany also stressed the need to focus on upcoming matches, stating: "We now have an important match in the Bundesliga against Borussia Dortmund next Saturday, which will also be crucial for us, but after that, we will direct all our focus to the second leg against Inter Milan."

Regarding Thomas Müller’s participation as a substitute in today’s match, Kompany explained: "We all know that Thomas Müller is a great asset for us in big matches. He came on, played well, and scored an important goal, giving us a positive moment. The decision not to start him was purely a tactical one."
