Inter Milan Settles the Goalkeeping Future
Saturday 09-05-2026
The Italian newspaper 'Corriere dello Sport' revealed that Inter Milan is leaning towards relying on the Spanish goalkeeper Josep Martinez as the first choice in the goalkeeping position starting from the next season, amidst technical and economic changes within the club.

According to the report, Martinez has practically secured the goalkeeping position in his favor, following an outstanding performance he showcased in the Italian Cup semi-final against Como, in addition to a noticeable improvement in his level recently, making him the closest option to be the main goalkeeper in the new season.

The report indicated that this approach is not only related to technical aspects but also to economic considerations, as not signing a new goalkeeper will allow for financial resources to be allocated to other deals, primarily the Argentine player Nico Paz, who is a main target for the club in the transfer market.

The source explained that Inter considers Nico Paz as one of its top targets in the coming period, with expectations of a complex deal depending on Real Madrid's stance on the player, prompting the Italian club to prepare in advance for any scenario.

In the same context, the report stated that the Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer may not continue with the team, as he is likely to leave next summer, with the possibility of returning to his former club Basel after the end of his contract or departing from Inter Milan.
