Enrique: We Had an Exceptional Season, and Our Goal Now is the Champions League
Luis Enrique, the Spanish coach of Paris Saint-Germain, expressed his great happiness after his team won the French league title for the 2024/2025 season, marking the thirteenth time in its history. He confirmed that the team is in its best form and aspires for more successes in the Champions League and the Coupe de France.
Regarding the title victory, Enrique said: "Angers put on a strong defensive display, and we needed many chances to score, but we deserved this title rightfully. We had a better season than last year. I thank the players and the coaching staff, and most importantly, our fans who supported us at all times, whether in victories or even in moments of defeat in the Champions League."
On the team's performance this season, he added: "Winning the league title in early April proves that we were at the peak of our performance. We still have important matches ahead to maintain the integrity of the competition, and we want to finish the season unbeaten. We will also use the final rounds to prepare well for the Champions League and the final of France against Reims."
Regarding the team's development compared to last season, he continued: "We were very good last season, winning several titles and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League, but this season we are stronger. The players have shown amazing ability to turn results around in difficult circumstances, especially in the Champions League. This is a young team, but it is mature and plays with a collective spirit, whether in attack or defense."
On renewing his contract and his happiness in Paris, he said: "My happiness does not depend only on titles, but on the commitment of the players and the support of the club in signing distinguished players. I renewed my contract until 2027, and the current project is based on a long-term vision. We have all the capabilities to achieve more titles and repay the support of everyone who stands by us."
