Ancelotti: Real Madrid Motivated for the Final, Mbappe Can Become a Legend
Monday 31-03-2025
Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, the head coach of Real Madrid, spoke at the press conference ahead of the match against Real Sociedad in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals, which will be held on Tuesday evening at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Real Madrid had won the first leg with a score of 1-0, bringing them a significant step closer to qualifying for the final.

Ancelotti confirmed that the team is in good shape despite having played 50 matches this season, indicating that the players are fully motivated to reach another final, stating: "We are fine, motivated, and in good condition; we want to win again and qualify for the final."

When asked about the possibility of Lunin participating in the final if they qualify, Ancelotti jokingly replied: "We'll see, Lunin and Courtois might play, and if they get injured, Fran Gonzalez might play, but if we don't reach the final, none of the three will play."

Regarding the situation of Brazilian talent Endrick, Ancelotti clarified that it is normal for any new player at Real Madrid to start from the bench, noting that this has happened before with stars like Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Valverde, saying: "I am happy with him; I have given him playing minutes whenever I had the chance, and he always takes advantage of them, but at Real Madrid, it is normal for players to sit on the bench at first."

The Italian coach praised Fran Garcia's performance, confirming that he provides a good contribution when he participates, and noted that Mendy is working on returning for important matches, saying: "Fran Garcia contributes significantly when he plays, while Mendy is trying to return for the Arsenal match."

When discussing the possibility of Kylian Mbappe becoming the greatest player in Real Madrid's history, Ancelotti said: "It's not easy, but if Mbappe can achieve what Cristiano Ronaldo did with Real Madrid, he will become a legend like him."

Ancelotti touched on the playing style of Real Madrid and Barcelona, explaining that they both offer different yet high-quality football, saying: "Barcelona plays wonderful football, and Real Madrid has a different style but of the same quality; it is difficult to compare the two teams because the style depends on the available players."

Regarding David Alaba's potential to start, Ancelotti clarified that the Austrian defender performed excellently with his national team, but starting him could pose a risk due to the density of matches, stating: "Alaba played with Austria, and participating in two matches every three days could be risky, but he has a chance to play against Sociedad."

When asked about the impact of Real Madrid's previous statement regarding officiating, Ancelotti pointed out that the team has lost many points recently, but he declined to elaborate further, saying: "We have lost many points; I completely understand Leganés' complaints, but I have nothing to add on this matter."

Ancelotti concluded his statements by discussing the difficulties the team faces in clinching matches, confirming that defensive injuries have affected the team's cohesion, but they have become more effective offensively, saying: "Matches have become more competitive; we were more solid defensively last year, but this season we are more effective offensively; defensive injuries have affected us a lot."
