Renard: There was no pressure to change the player list
French coach Hervé Renard of the Saudi national team revealed that his match against the Chinese national team is significant, just like the remaining four matches.
Renard said during the press conference: "The Chinese national team has improved since the first round of the qualifiers; they have a good coach whom I faced while he was coaching the Oman national team. They have an organized team that is good at counterattacks, and we are ready for them."
He added: "I did not renew the player list until it was necessary; the decision was important, especially since I was not happy after the Gulf Cup, and the average age of the national team players has become lower than before."
He continued: "The door is open for all Saudi players to join the national team, but it is important that they have playing minutes with their teams, and I hope that the current lineup makes the fans happy by achieving victory."
He completed: "I cannot comment on the retirement of Mohammed Al-Owais, and I hope he participates more with his club so that he can have the opportunity to return to the national team list."
He continued: "I thank the Saudi fans for their support by completely selling out the tickets tomorrow, and we need everyone's support, but we must show our determination and enthusiasm to qualify for the World Cup."
He added: "Mohammed Kanno will not be present in the match tomorrow against China, and we hope he can participate against Japan."
He concluded: "There was no pressure on us to change the player list, but as I said, I was not happy with the performance in the Gulf Cup, and our current position in the qualifiers is unsatisfactory. We are fortunate for some results of other teams in previous matches."
