Officially.. Greek Donis Appointed as Head Coach for Saudi Green
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation announced the appointment of Greek coach Georgios Donis to lead the Saudi national team in the upcoming phase.
Donis's contract extends until July 2027, succeeding the Frenchman Hervé Renard after the contractual relationship between the two parties was terminated.
The Greek coach has a diverse coaching record, having managed both European and local clubs, including AEK Athens and PAOK, in addition to his experiences in the Saudi league.
He has previously worked with Al-Hilal, Al-Wehda, and Al-Fateh, in addition to his recent experience with Al-Khaleej Club, which gives him an advantage in understanding the nature of local competition.
Donis achieved several titles during his career, most notably the Cypriot League and the Cyprus Cup, in addition to local championships in Saudi Arabia.
The Green Falcons are preparing for the final stage of their preparation program for the 2026 World Cup.
A press conference is expected to be held in Riyadh to introduce the coaching staff before heading to the training camp in the United States.
The federation hopes that Donis will lead the national team to achieve outstanding results in the upcoming events, most notably a commendable appearance in the World Cup.
