Details of Saudi Federation Negotiations with Fahd Al-Mufarrej for World Cup Team Inclusion
Monday 20-04-2026
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation is intensifying its negotiations with Fahd Al-Mufarrej, aiming to include him in the administrative staff of the national team in the upcoming phase.

This step comes as part of the restructuring plan within the national team, coinciding with the imminent appointment of a new coaching staff led by Georgios Donis.

The media personality Abdulrahman Al-Humaidi revealed that communications are still ongoing with Al-Mufarrej to take on the position of team manager, as part of a clear direction to implement comprehensive changes.

He pointed out that an official session was indeed held between the two parties, but it has not yet resulted in a final agreement, with other names being considered for the same position.

In a related context, it was clarified that the delay in announcing the contract with Donis is linked to the current coach Hervé Renard's file.

He added that the penalty clause in Renard's contract represents the main obstacle, as he insists on receiving all his dues, which complicates the formal termination of the relationship so far.

All files remain open within the corridors of the federation, as it seeks to resolve matters before the serious preparations for the 2026 World Cup begin.
