Al-Qiai: Al-Ahly Did Not Withdraw from the Match Against Zamalek
Adli Al-Qiai, the former president of Al-Ahly's football company, expressed his astonishment at Zamalek's position after welcoming the holding of the summit match with Egyptian referees, despite the fact that the white team had complained about the refereeing days before the match.
Al-Qiai confirmed that Al-Ahly did not withdraw from the match against Zamalek in the first round of the decisive phase of the Premier League.
He pointed out during the "Malik and Kataba" program on Al-Ahly channel that the Ministry of Sports intervened on behalf of the state to bring in a foreign referee, who is Saudi Mohammed Al-Huwaish, and that the Clubs Association requested to provide a foreign whistle.
He added: "The responsible authorities were serious about holding the match with foreign referees, and Al-Ahly was only waiting for the new date for the confrontation to be determined, and the Saudi referee had indeed arrived in Cairo, but the red administration was not informed of the new date for the match against Zamalek.
He continued: "The Minister of Sports intervened and brought in a foreign refereeing crew, and there was a party that created a crisis by appointing an Egyptian referee, and Zamalek brought this up to force Al-Ahly to withdraw.
He concluded: "Some are trying to abolish the Clubs Association, and Hani Abu Rida (the president of the Egyptian Football Association) was preoccupied with taking over the North African Union, and it would have been better if he had intervened to resolve the crisis.
