Officially.. Ronaldo Withdraws from Candidacy for the Brazilian Football Confederation
The legendary Brazilian and global football icon Ronaldo Nazário announced his withdrawal from the candidacy for the presidency of the Brazilian Football Confederation for the upcoming period.
Ronaldo wrote on his account on the X platform: "After I publicly announced my desire to run for the presidency of the Brazilian Football Confederation in the upcoming elections, I officially withdraw my intention to run. If the majority that holds the decision-making power believes that Brazilian football is in safe hands, then my opinion will not matter."
He added: "As I have already said, my first steps will be towards giving a voice and space to the clubs, as well as listening to the federations for the benefit of improving competitions and developing the sport in their states. The necessary change will come from this strategic consensus, with the strength of a shared vision."
He further stated: "In my first contact with the 27 federations affiliated with the Brazilian Confederation, I found 23 closed doors in my face. The federations refused to receive me at their headquarters, claiming they were satisfied with the current administration and support its reelection. I was unable to present my project and share my ideas and hear them as I wished. There was no opportunity for dialogue."
He emphasized: "The bylaws grant the federations the most important votes, so it is clear that there is no way to compete. Most state leaders support the acting president, and that is their right, which I respect, regardless of my convictions."
He concluded: "I thank everyone who showed interest in my initiative, and I still believe that the path to the development of Brazilian football is, above all, dialogue, transparency, and unity."
