Pedri: Yamal and Raphinha Deserve This Award, It Was a Tough Match
Barcelona star Pedri spoke to the press after the 3-1 victory over Benfica in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 at the Montjuïc Stadium.
The player said: "It was a tough match, especially after what happened on Saturday (the death of the team doctor). First of all, I would like to send all my support to the family and friends of the deceased, and we will try to win everything for him."
He added: "In the first match, we started a bit slowly, and we had to improve that. In today's match, we scored an early goal, but Benfica equalized quickly. However, the team maintained its focus, and thanks to the players we have, we were able to achieve the result we wanted."
He continued: "I try to give my all defensively. My dad always used to tell me: If you don't play well, at least make an effort and run for the team. And that's what I always try to do; defensive work helps the team a lot, and with the talented forwards we have, things are going well."
He concluded: "Yamal and Raphinha deserve the Man of the Match award. They are amazing players, and we also have Lewandowski, who scores every chance. Our attack is full of offensive power that we need to exploit."
