A new arbitration technology used in the round of 16 of the FA Cup
The Premier League League has announced the application of semi -automatic infiltration technology for the first time in the round of 16 matches of the FA Cup 2024/2025, in a move aimed at improving the accuracy and speed of arbitration decisions.
The start of the 16th round of March 1, 2025, will be launched, with the final table of the matches be announced later, and the semi -automatic infiltration technology will be applied in seven games held in the Premier League club stadiums, namely, Aston Villa, Manchester United, Manchester City, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, Nutingham Forest.
On the other hand, technology will not be used in the Preston match against Burnley, since Preston belongs to the first division.
In addition to the semi -automatic infiltration technology, the technology of assisting video referee will be used in all matches, and the matches will witness the advantage of announcing the referees ’decisions on the field, where the referee will clarify the reasons behind the arbitration decisions after reviewing the footage, to ensure a greater transparency for the fans.
The semi -automated infiltration technology depends on the visual tracking of the players and the development of accurate virtual infiltration lines, which helps to accelerate the decision -making without affecting its accuracy, and this step comes after an intensive test period during the 2024/2025 season, in cooperation with the Association of Professional Referees and the Premier League, in preparation To be officially approved later.
Although the new technology will not change the accuracy of the decisions, it speeds up the process of making it, which is in line with the English Federation's tendency towards developing the arbitration system using the latest technological tools, and promoting justice and transparency in matches.
