Ahly coach Marcel Kohler commented on El-Shenawy, Najm Al-Ahmar’s position on sitting on the bench.

Kohler said in the press conference after the match: “I knew that the match would not be easy, especially after the match at Abidjan Stadium, which was in high heat and 7 hours of flight time.”
He continued: “There was not enough time for recovery, and it was clear that the Abidjan Stadium match was very dependent on the will of the players, and this affected us in the first half.”
He continued: “From my experience as a player, I fully understand what it means to play a match every three days, and you must be very mentally strong to be able to deal with these conditions and resistance. In the second half, our luck was good because our opponent did not score any goals.” Goals".
Kohler was asked if he had given additional instructions to Imam Ashour, and he replied, saying: “Exactly, I told him of the necessity of scoring goals, and therefore he was present in the opponent’s penalty area. Imam Ashour's skills are not found in any player in Egypt.
Regarding El-Shenawy’s presence on the bench, Kohler said: “He was sitting on the bench, and you were the ones who said that El-Shenawy did not want to sit on the bench, but today’s match denied that. I asked him before the match, and he was the one who agreed to be on the bench.”
