About the Team

Netherlands. The Netherlands national football team is the official representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in international tournaments, overseen by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB), which was established in 1889 and joined FIFA in 1904 as one of the oldest federations in the world. Historically, the Dutch national team is considered one of the strongest European teams, despite not having won the World Cup yet, having reached the final three times (1974, 1978, 2010), and winning the UEFA European Championship in 1988 under the leadership of the legend Marco van Basten. The team is known by the nickname "the Flying Dutchmen" (Oranje), and is characterized by its famous playing style "Total Football," which has inspired generations of teams around the world. They play their matches at the Johan Cruyff Arena in the capital, Amsterdam.
