Slott: Salah's first goal came out of nowhere, and we deserved to win
Liverpool coach Arne Slot appeared in press statements, after beating Southampton 3-2 in the 12th round of the English Premier League.
The coach said: “In the half Second, I saw the intensity I was looking for in the first half. Southampton made it really difficult for a lot of teams, including the bigger clubs, and they made it difficult for us today, even though we completely dominated the game in the game. My opinion.”
He added: “There was not enough urgency to get into the penalty area [in the first half], we kept the ball instead of attacking the penalty area though Although we fell behind in the second half, we showed more urgency and intensity, which led to many chances and in the end we scored two goals.”
He stressed: “It is difficult to create chances.” Against a team that plays defensively with a plan 4-5-1 but we know that Southampton wants to play from the back so you have to be really aggressive, otherwise they have a really good game plan.”
On Mohamed Salah: “If you want to win, you need to score goals and we know Mohamed can score. For me, his first goal was the most important because we scored out of nowhere, and then after that he was just waiting for us to score another goal.”
On the performance in general: “The positive side is that we fought, But they only reached the penalty area twice. In general, we controlled the match, but because of the result, it seemed difficult, but we deserved to win.”
Regarding facing Real Madrid and then Manchester City this week: “They are two teams that dominated. Football in the last few years. So, we have two big games ahead of us and that's why we needed to win today and that's what makes me happy."
