Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany appeared in press statements, after the victory over Werder Bremen in the fourth round of the German League.
The coach said: “ “I am happy.” Extremely. It was important to prepare well for this difficult match. The players performed really well. For us, the pressure is always there to win and play well. When things go like they did today, it's good for us. The atmosphere was great. It was simply a good match for us.”
He added: “Isn’t it? He is a special talent. It's great that Bayern has so many good players. Michael gave a very good performance. His start with Bayern couldn't have been better. He has to continue like this. I don't feel like he's a player who feels a lot of pressure. He just enjoys football.”
He continued: “If the top players run and fight for each other, that is a big part of the job. There is of course an idea behind everything, but this [0.00 xG] was possible because the man who scored the two goals Olise was running for his teammates. It was because the man who had scored 11 or 12 goals this season Keane was running for the team. Koeman, Gnabry, Sane, everyone was running for the team. We do it together. I am realistic enough to give credit to the players and they deserve it today.”
He continued: “Will you follow the same approach against Leverkusen? First I have to analyze the opponent. My full focus was on today's match. Starting tomorrow, the focus will be solely on Leverkusen. When I played against Bayern's top teams in the past, I never got the impression that they were under pressure from the opposition. They were always the ones to apply pressure and were good on the ball. We'll see if we can do it."
He concluded:"Your visit to Oktoberfest tomorrow? First and foremost it was important that we win today. Players can be happy. Tomorrow is tradition. We have to respect tradition. We'll all go there. We have to enjoy it and then from Monday it will be all about Leverkusen and preparing for the game.”
