Basim Qasim: We aim to win against Diyala and reconcile with our fans

Hours before the anticipated clash that brings together Al Zawraa and their guests Diyala tomorrow evening at Al Zawraa Stadium for the twelfth round of the Iraq Stars League, the head coach of the Al Zawraa team, Basim Qasim, along with the talented playmaker Luay Al-Aani, held a press conference to shed light on the preparations and announce a state of alert to end the series of negative results.

Al Zawraa's coach Bassim Qasim confirmed his team's mental and technical readiness for the match, emphasizing that the coaching staff and players fully understand the sensitivity of the situation and the magnitude of the responsibility placed upon them.

Qasim clarified during the press conference, saying:

"We are going through a difficult phase and a decline in results that does not befit a club with such a rich history. We are fully aware of the disappointment and anger felt by our loyal fans, and we will not hide behind excuses. We have been working over the past few days to address the technical errors and restore confidence to the attacking lines."

The Sheikh of coaches added frankly:

"Diyala are not an easy opponent and they have been performing respectably this season, but our only clear option in this match is to seize the three points and nothing else. Opening the stadium doors for free is the least we can offer to the fans, and our duty on the pitch is to repay that with a convincing win and performance."

Al Zawraa midfielder Luay Al Ani expressed his deep regret over the recent results the team has faced both domestically and internationally, affirming that all players have vowed to give their all to please the fans.

Al Ani said:

"The previous results have not met the club's ambitions nor our ambitions as players. We feel the fans' sadness and we sincerely apologize to them. Al Zawraa always plays under the pressure of victories and the group is currently at the highest levels of focus and desire to correct the course."

Al Ani concluded his statement by saying:

"The match against Diyala tomorrow is our perfect opportunity to return to winning ways and stop the points bleeding. We promise our fans in the stands that we will fight for every ball throughout the 90 minutes to bring back smiles to their faces and start a new chapter for Al Zawraa in the league."

Bassem Qassem and Luay Al-Ani's statements reflect a sense of determination and a strong desire within the corridors of Al Zawraa to return with force and overcome the recent setbacks in results.
