The decline of Brazilian talent Estêvão at Chelsea has sparked a wave of controversy among the London club's fans, as the young player has fallen out of the starting lineup under Spanish coach Xabi Alonso, despite the high expectations that accompanied his arrival from Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras.

Criticism has increased following Chelsea's exit against Liverpool on penalties in the EFL Cup last Wednesday, as Estêvão remained on the bench throughout the match, even during the shootout. This has frustrated a number of fans and observers, who have called for him to be given a greater opportunity to showcase his abilities.

Alonso commented on the situation of the Brazilian player, who is 19 years old, acknowledging that he may not be satisfied with his lack of appearances, but he assured that the opportunity will come at the right time. He emphasized the need to manage all players according to the team's needs throughout the season.

Chelsea's manager said: "I understand his situation, and he could certainly be happier. All players want to participate, and the right time will come for each player. I am confident that his opportunity will come; this is my responsibility. We need to manage things well, and we know that the season will be long, and the opportunity will be available for everyone at different stages."

Estêvão has transitioned from a promising talent to a substitute player.

Estêvão has caught the eye before his move to Chelsea due to his individual skills and speed, as well as his ability to create danger from the flanks. These qualities prompted the English club to sign him from Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras for a fee of €34 million.

Expectations regarding the player's future have risen after he delivered impressive performances, capped off by scoring a stunning goal against FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, confirming that he possesses the qualities needed to make a strong impact in European football.

However, his first season at Stamford Bridge suffered a setback last April when he injured his hamstring, an injury that ended his season early and also deprived him of participating in the FIFA World Cup with the Brazilian national team, despite earlier expectations of his inclusion in coach Carlo Ancelotti's squad.

Limited numbers have increased the anger of Chelsea fans.

Since taking charge of Chelsea during the summer transfer window, replacing manager Liam Rosenior, Alonso has not given Brazilian winger much opportunity to participate in the Premier League, as most of his appearances have been limited to coming on as a substitute in the final minutes of matches.

Estêvão has not started any matches in the Premier League this season, while his main appearances in various competitions have been limited to two matches in the early rounds of the EFL Cup, with Chelsea absent from European competitions this season.

These figures have raised questions among fans regarding the reasons for the player's absence from the starting lineup, especially given the desire to see young talents receive enough opportunities to develop and prove their worth.

During Liverpool's recent match, Chelsea fans who traveled to support the team expressed their backing for a player, as they chanted his name for large parts of the game, in a clear message reflecting their desire to see him take on a bigger role.

Xabi Alonso faces the challenge of finding the right way to utilize Estêvão's potential amid growing fan pressure, with anticipation surrounding whether the Spanish coach will give the Brazilian talent more opportunities in upcoming matches or continue to rely on his current options.
