Spalletti: We apologise to the fans and De Rossi will be a great coach
Luciano Spalletti, the head coach of Juventus, has expressed his regret over the loss to Genoa, apologising to the Old Lady fans for the performance the team delivered. He also spoke about the difficulties he faces due to the limited options available to him.
Spalletti stated in remarks to "DAZN": "It has been a long time since we have been able to train well, due to the limited number of players and the lack of suitable alternatives to help us regain balance and cope with fatigue, and this worries me a little. We always try to take small steps forward and experiment with different things, but we need time, which we currently do not have."
He added: "First, we must apologise to the fans for the performance, as that is the most important thing. After that, it is difficult to talk about the problem now, because anything we say could be wrong. We need some time to understand the situation more clearly. We were unable to deal with Baldanzi's movements between our lines, whether behind the defensive line or in the spaces behind the midfielders, and we failed to locate him and find the right balance to press him."
Juventus manager spoke about Daniele De Rossi, the coach of Genoa, saying: "I have always been convinced that De Rossi, who was an exceptional player, would also be a great coach. I don't say this just because I like him a lot, but because I know him well on both a personal and professional level, and I have seen him in very difficult moments in his life; in those moments, you get to know the true character of a person. Therefore, I see today what I expected from De Rossi, as a person and as a coach."
Luciano Spalletti concluded his remarks by praising Genoa's character, stating: "The team has a strong personality and a fighting spirit that makes them press you with maximum intensity. In modern football, just three minutes can turn the result of a match, and that distinguishes teams that have the desire to attack and score goals. Details determine the outcomes, but the encounter will be extremely difficult, and they will also have to be cautious of what my team can deliver."
