Tiago Silva: Maldini changed my mentality and Nesta was my teacher in training

Tiago Silva spoke about the significant impact that AC Milan legends Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Nesta had on his football career, confirming that his experience with them at the Italian club contributed to changing his mentality and gave him an additional motivation to continue playing at the highest level.

Silva said: "I was 24 years old when I arrived at Milan, and meeting Paolo Maldini ignited something inside me, as it made me think about the possibility of continuing to play at an advanced age."

The Brazilian defender added: "When I looked at Maldini, I thought that my focus on my health and fitness, my abstention from drinking alcohol and smoking, and my commitment to sleeping well, all these things could help me continue playing until I reach the age that Maldini reached."

Silva continued his talk about the Italian defensive legend, saying: "Maldini is unmatched, there is only one Maldini," pointing out that his influence was not limited to the physical aspect but extended to his mentality and approach to football.

He concluded his remarks by praising Alessandro Nesta, emphasizing that his impact was significant as well, saying: "Maldini changed my mentality, not just him, but Alessandro Nesta too. Nesta was like a teacher to me in training, and I realized that playing alongside him would teach me a lot."
