Shock for Paris Saint-Germain stars as Vitinha and Hakimi drop in Ballon d'Or race
The Portuguese Vitinha and the Moroccan Achraf Hakimi have moved away from the top ten in the 2026 Ballon d'Or rankings, with Vitinha in 14th place and Hakimi in 13th, marking a notable decline compared to their positions in the previous edition.
Vitinha has dropped 11 places after finishing the 2025 edition in third, despite his role with Paris Saint-Germain in winning the UEFA Champions League for the second consecutive season. The Portuguese midfielder scored six goals in the tournament and participated in 50 matches with the team this season.
Achraf Hakimi has dropped from sixth place last year to thirteenth in the 2026 edition, despite participating with his national team in the World Cup, where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing to France 2-0.
Among the other players from Paris Saint-Germain, Marquinhos came in 25th place, Nuno Mendes in 23rd, Willian Pacho in 20th, João Neves in 19th, while Ferran Torres occupied 16th place.
The rankings of Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Fabián Ruiz are still pending as the announcement of the candidates for the 2026 Ballon d'Or continues.
