Barcelona's stance on selling Espart amid interest from major European clubs
FC Barcelona are keen to retain young defender Xavi Espart despite interest from several European clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal, according to "TEAMtalk", which confirmed that the Catalan club has no intention of allowing his departure.
Xavi Espart, aged 19, has established himself in coach Hans Flick's plans this season, thanks to his ability to play in both right and left-back positions, as well as the possibility of participating in midfield.
FC Barcelona have extended the player's contract until June 30, 2030, with a release clause exceeding €100 million. The same source confirmed that Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich contacted his representatives before the new contract was signed, while Arsenal and Tottenham are closely monitoring his development.
Flick praised Espart's ability to handle the ball, noting similarities between his style and that of Philipp Lahm. For his part, the player confirmed his connection to FC Barcelona since childhood and his desire to contribute to its success in the future, while the club rules out his departure in January or next summer.
