Barcelona joins Real Madrid in the race to sign Zubimendi

FC Barcelona have joined Real Madrid in the race to sign Martín Zubimendi, the Arsenal midfielder, amid expectations that the royal club would be the best option for the player if he wants to have a greater chance of playing, according to "TEAMtalk".

Martín Zubimendi, aged 27, is suffering from a lack of playing minutes this season, having not started any matches in the Premier League, due to the strong competition for midfield positions at Arsenal, where Declan Rice has a starting spot when fit, while Myles Lewis-Skelly and Bruno are competing to play alongside him.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport", Real Madrid have made Martín Zubimendi a key target for a transfer in 2027, having previously shown interest in signing him before his move from Real Sociedad to Arsenal.

According to information reported by "CaughtOffside", Barcelona have entered the race as they see the player as a potential option to replace Frenkie de Jong if he leaves the team.

TEAMtalk reports that Real Madrid may grant Martín Zubimendi a greater opportunity to participate, given the club's failure to adequately replace Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos. Meanwhile, at FC Barcelona, he will face competition for his position as Hans Flick relies on Pedri and Rodri in midfield.
