Nico Williams nears return to action after recovering from injury

Nico Williams, the Athletic Bilbao winger, has returned to group training today, Monday, after a three-week absence due to a muscle injury, bringing him closer to regaining fitness and the possibility of participating in the upcoming match against Levante, scheduled for Wednesday, as part of the postponed Spanish league fixture.

Spanish international Iñaki Williams suffered an injury on September 29 during the international break, in the match between Spain and Croatia. Williams participated in group training normally during the open part in front of the media, but it has not yet been determined whether he will be ready to join the squad traveling to Valencia.

German coach Edin Terzić hopes to benefit from the return of Spanish winger, with Oihan Sancet and Álvaro Djaló missing the match against Levante due to physical issues. The team will also be without the services of Gorka Guruzeta, who suffered a serious knee injury during the match against Valencia, after medical examinations confirmed he has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, with the date for surgery to be determined in the coming days.

Unai Eighilouz continues to progress in his rehabilitation programme after returning to individual training on the pitch following a tear in the reconstruction area of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, an injury he sustained in mid-May, for which he underwent surgery on June 3.

Athletic Bilbao are set to hold their final training session on Tuesday ahead of their clash with Levante, before Terzić holds a press conference to discuss the match and the condition of his players, with anticipation surrounding whether Williams will be able to return to the squad.
