Pedri: Rodri gives me more freedom to advance, and this is our goal

Pedri, midfielder for FC Barcelona, has confirmed the importance of the upcoming match against Paris Saint-Germain, stressing his team's desire to secure a victory and maintain their positive results. He also praised the role that Rodri plays in midfield.

Pedri said about the match against Paris Saint-Germain: "We are treating the game as a very tough encounter against a strong opponent, we do not consider it a final, as there are still many matches to come, but we want to win and continue our positive momentum."

He added: "It is a strong competitor that allows us to know our position and the level we have in Europe."

Regarding the nature of the encounter and the playing style of both teams, he explained: "For me, looking at the playing style of both teams, it is one of the best matches, if not the best. I am lucky to enjoy playing it, and I will enjoy it to the fullest. I hope the fans enjoy it too."

Barcelona's player praised Rodri's role in midfield, saying: "Rodri gives us a lot in controlling the midfield; when he is present, he gives me greater freedom to move forward because I know he will always be there and that he rarely loses the ball. We have raised the level of the team."

Pedri spoke about the expected battle in midfield, saying: "I expect a beautiful fight, the midfielders in both teams suffer more when they do not have the ball compared to when they do. The team that controls the ball will be able to steer the match in its favor; we hope the ball is with us. We are going through a good period and entering the match with confidence."

Pedri spoke about Vitinha, a player for Paris Saint-Germain, saying: "He is a player who makes a big difference and one of the best players, if not the best, in terms of playmaking and ball retention. He offers a lot to Paris Saint-Germain, and when he is absent, the impact of that is clearly visible."

He added: "I love facing players of this kind, it's great to test yourself against the best players, and to be able to win if possible."

The midfielder confirmed that competition within FC Barcelona requires players to maintain their highest levels, stating: "At Barcelona, you have to prove every day that you have the level to win; the expectation is to win every match. If you lose one match, the talk about a crisis and poor performance begins; you always have to be at your best."

Regarding his role in the dressing room, he explained: "I feel that I am an important player, as I am one of the leaders of the team, and I try to help the young players. I have spent several years at the club, and I seek to provide assistance."

Pedri praised Gordon's potential and their relationship, saying: "My relationship with Gordon is very good, and I understand him wonderfully. I am amazed by the quality he possesses, and he will provide us with a lot in terms of play and scoring."

He also spoke about facing Ferran Torres, saying: "I hope he doesn't have much luck tomorrow, and that he doesn't score, and that we achieve victory. I wish him all the best, but for the rest of the season, my relationship with him is very good, and we meet together in the national team."

Speaking about Ousmane Dembélé, Pedri said: "He is a player who has always impressed me a lot; during training, he would do things that go beyond what any ordinary player can do. I always told him that he has a lot of potential, and here he has exploded in form, showing the real Dembélé. His performance has even helped him win the Ballon d'Or. He is a dear friend."

Regarding the strengths of Paris Saint-Germain, he explained: "Paris Saint-Germain has a lot of potential, and they have players who make a big difference, which has helped them win the UEFA Champions League twice in a row. There is no need to exaggerate when talking about them; they are a very strong team, and we need to deliver an excellent match."

Regarding the match between Paris Saint-Germain and the clásico: "I prefer to play both matches, but we are only thinking about tomorrow's match."

Regarding Lamine Yamal, he confirmed: "I have always seen him eager to shine and enjoy playing, it is clear that he enjoys playing, individual duels, dribbling, and creating assists. He should not look at any other player; if he focuses on Leo, it will be difficult for him to compare himself to the best player in history. He needs to carve his own path and stay calm; he is currently the best player in the world."

Regarding the difference between playing with Rodri for the national team and Barcelona, he explained: "The coaches' ideas are different; here we play in a more direct way, with pressing and a higher defensive line, but the understanding with the player on the pitch remains the same, whether you are wearing the Barcelona shirt or the Spanish national team."

Regarding player rotation, Pedri said: "These are matters decided by the coach, and he makes his decisions this way. The season is very long, and this reflects the strength of the team we have. Every player who participates maintains the team's level and does not lower it. This is the key to reaching the end of the season in the best possible condition and competing for titles. A good start is important, but titles are decided at the end of the season."
