Mojtaba Ali makes history against Al-Zawraa
Al-Naft defender Mujtaba Ali has made history in the Iraqi Premier League by becoming the first player to score in the history of the encounters between Al-Zawraa and Al-Ghaz Al-Shamal.
A historic moment occurred during the match currently taking place between the two teams at the Nouroz Stadium in Sulaymaniyah as part of the tenth round of the competition, which is considered the very first encounter between the two clubs in the history of the Iraqi league.
The goal came in the 18th minute of the first half after a well-executed set piece inside the penalty area of Al-Zawraa, scored by defender Mujtaba Mohammed, who sent it into the net past goalkeeper Ahmed Basel, announcing Al-Naft's lead by one goal to nil.
This goal was not just a lead for his team but carried significant historical value as Mojtaba Mohammad becomes the first player to score against Al-Zawraa from the Gas Al-Shamal gate and the first to register in the head-to-head record between the two teams.
The young defender enjoying a standout season with Gaz Al-Shamal has once again confirmed that football does not recognize big names and that ambition can create history against the biggest clubs.
