David Beckham a potential candidate for FIFA presidency against Infantino
Speculation is growing about the possibility of former England star David Beckham entering the race for the presidency of FIFA, to challenge current president Gianni Infantino, who is seeking a fourth term next year.
According to the German report, there is a growing desire within the European football governing body UEFA and among its allies to instigate a change at the top of FIFA, with a focus on integrity in leadership, as the deadline for submitting competing candidates ends on November 18.
David Beckham, the former star and co-owner of Inter Miami, is being mentioned based on several factors, most notably his global fame and extensive relationships in Europe, the United States, and Asia, along with his managerial experience through his work with Inter Miami and his roles as an ambassador at international events.
David Beckham has previously publicly criticized the corruption scandals witnessed by FIFA, describing them as "disgusting", which reinforces his name being mentioned in discussions about potential leadership changes within the international federation.
The possibility of Beckham officially entering the race remains unclear, as opponents of Infantino face a deadline to present a candidate with sufficient support to challenge for the FIFA presidency.
