Real Madrid identifies potential Courtois replacement from Ligue 1
Real Madrid have included Guillaume Restes, goalkeeper of FC Toulouse, in their list of potential options to succeed Thibaut Courtois in the long term, according to "TEAMtalk".
In contrast, the royal club does not intend to part ways with Courtois, as information suggests that both parties have reached a preliminary verbal agreement to extend the Belgian goalkeeper's contract, which expires in 2027, to continue with the team during the 2027/2028 season.
Thibaut Courtois joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in August 2018 for £35 million, and he has won three LaLiga titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies with the team. Now at 34 years old, the club is beginning to prepare for the future of the goalkeeper position, despite valuing backup keeper Andriy Lunin.
Guillaume Restes is 21 years old and has participated in all of FC Toulouse's matches this season. He made his debut with the French national team during the recent UEFA Nations League matches, and his market value is estimated at around 19 million euros, with Real Madrid potentially moving to sign him next summer.
However, the French goalkeeper remains one of several options the club is considering to secure the future of the goalkeeper position after Courtois.
