Manuel Akanji, Inter's defender, has confirmed that his team is aiming to secure victory against Club Brugge in the anticipated match between them in the UEFA Champions League, emphasizing the importance of earning points to advance into the top eight and qualify directly for the Round of 16.

Manuel Akanji stated during the press conference: "Our goal is to reach the top eight, and to do that we need to start winning, and we hope to start tomorrow. It is the right moment, in front of our fans, to begin achieving victories."

The Swiss defender spoke about the team's situation, expressing great confidence in the current group. He added: "We have a great team, and I believe our squad has become deeper compared to the past. It's important for everyone to be in good shape, and I am really confident about this season."

Regarding the Manchester City case, Akanji clarified that he is still in touch with some of his former teammates, but he is currently focused on Inter, expressing his hope to retain the trophies he has won.

He spoke about his relationship with goalkeeper Yann Sommer, saying: "He is a great friend, but we won't be friends for 90 minutes tomorrow, and I definitely hope to win against him."

Akanji concluded his statements by affirming that facing Club Brugge is important to start a winning streak, but he does not consider it a decisive match for qualification among the top eight. He clarified that Inter's ambition is to go far in the UEFA Champions League and continue competing for domestic and continental titles.
